He was born on 12th December in 1949. He was born in Caterham, Surrey. Caterham is a city in the Tandridge, England.

His fathers name Alfred Martin Nighy who managed car garage for profession & mother Catherine Josephine Nighy who was a psychiatric nurse.

He has two elder brothers & sister Martin  Nighy and Anna Nighy. He completed his primary school education in “The John Fisher School”.  A Roman Catholic voluntary-aided boys School at Peaks Hill, Purley, Surrey, England. He was also a member of a theatre group in the same school. After completing the school he took his admission in Guildford School of acting & took his training in stage performance & film. 

Career

He started his career in the theatre &  radio and television dramas. One of the most successful television series was “The men’s Room”.It was released in the year 1991. Apart from this, he also appeared in the BBC Radio drama in the year 1981 named “The Lord of The Rings”.

In 2003 he perform in a movie named Vampire Elder Viktor in the American Production Underworld & its sequel of the same movie in the year 2006 named “Underworld: Evolution”. He also worked off its prequel in the year 2013 “Underworld: Rise of The Lycans”.

He also played the main villain character of Davy Jones in the movie “Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest”.It was an American fantasy movie directed by Gore released in the year 2006 & next year he also worked off its prequel in 2007 “Pirates of The Caribbean: At World’s End”.  

In 2006 he also perform in the movie  British psychological thriller drama movie directed by Richard Eyre the movie named “Notes on a Scandal”. For this movie, he was also nominated for a London Film Critics Circle Award.

His movie Minamata is released on February 5th 2021 where He played the role of Robert Hayes. The story of the movie based on the book of the name by Aileen Mioko Smith and  Eugene Smith. The film stars  Johnny Depp played the character of Smith. An American photographer who documented the effects of mercury poisoning on the citizens of Minamata Kumamoto which was located in Japan. Actor Tadanobu Asano acted in the role of Tatsuo Matsumura.

Apart from Johnny Depp The Japanese actor Hiroyuki Sanada played the role of   Mitsuo Yamazaki & the Japanese, Bollywood & Honk Kong movie actor Jun Kunimura played the role of Junichi Nojima in the same movie. Along with this the Japanese actress Minami Hinase who perform the role of  Aileen in the movie. Personal Life

He was in a relationship with the English actress Diana Quick, & they also have an actress daughter Mary Nighy. But they separated in the year 2008.
