 He is a South Korean rapper, songwriter, record producer and a leading member of the South Korean boy band BTS.RM released his first solo mixtape in 2015. His second mixtape “Mono” released in October 2018  was the highest-charting album by a Korean soloist on the Billboard 200 chart. According to a survey by Gallup  Korea, he has ranked on 12th most demanding idol of 2018. He has received the award of fifth-class Hwagwan of “The Order of Cultural Merit” by the South Korean president.

Early Life

Kim Nam-Joon is famous by his stage name RM  was born on 12th September 1994 in Dongjak District, South Korea. He is the elder two and has a younger sister in his family along with his parents.  at the age of 11, he becomes interested in Hip hop music after listening to the South Korean Hip Hop group Epik High. During his University entrance examination, he ranks in the top 1%  of his country and has an IQ of 148. 

He joined big hit entertainment at the age of 16. Soon after he becomes an idol he immediately enrolled for Global Cyber University. In 2020  he has taken his admission at the Hanyang Cyber University for completing his Master of Business Administration degree in Advertising and media. 

Career

On 13th June 2013, he made his debut in BTS. It is also known as Bangtan Boys. Including him, there is 7 number in the BTS, which is a South Korean boy band.  the others 6 number of the band are Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V & Jungkook.

At the year-end, BTS received so many awards including other members of the team in the 5th Melon Music Awards, 28th Golden Disc Awards & 23rd Seoul Music Awards.

The second extended play by the BTS Skool Luv Affair Released in January 2014  ranks on top of the Courier national music charting Gaon Album Chart with the sale of 100,000 Copy in 2014 & 250,000  copies overall. It is also marked as BTS first appearance on the billboards of World’s album chart its ranks at number three. 

In August 2014 BTS released their first Korean studio album “Dark & Wild”, it ranks number two in Korea and sold over 200,000 copies.BTS organised their first concert tour on the 2014 BTS Live Trilogy Episode II: The Red Bulletin six cities Seoul, Kobe the seventh-largest city in Japan, Tokyo, Manila, Singapore and Bangkok. 

BTS first Japanese studio album “Wake Up” released in December 2014. It ranks at number three on the weekly Japanese music chart “Oricon Albums Chart” and sold 28,000 copies. The band organised their first Japan tour in 2015 “wake up: Open your eyes” in February 2015. 

On 17th March 2015, he released his First solo mixtape which ranked 48th on the American Music magazine Spin in the “50 Best Hip Hop Albums of 2015”.On 27th December 2018, He made history as the first K-pop artist to chart on the Rock Digital Songs chart coming at number two on the list. 

In 2018 he released his second mixtape Mono. Soon after he becomes the first Korean artist to rank number one on the Emerging Artists Chart in the United States with the playlist.

American Hip Hop magazine XXL in 2017 included him in its list of “10 Korean Rappers You Should Know”.In January 2018 he promoted from associate to a full member of  The Korea Music Copyright Association.
