Monali Thakur is an Indian singer and actress. She is the winner of the National Filmfare Awards for Best Playback Singer, along with the Filmfare Awards. Early life

She was born on November 3, 1985, in Kolkata, the state of West Bengal, India. Her father, Shakti Thakur, was a famous singer and actor in the Bengali film industry. Her mother, Mehuli Thakur, is a housewife. She has a sister named Mehuli Thakur Goswami, who is also a playback singer in West Bengal. She started singing in school and also started at local functions. She has also learned hip-hop and salsa dance, apart from Bharatnatyam. She has completed her graduation from St. Xavier College in English in Kolkata. 

Career

She pursues her career by singing 9th position in the Indian Idol 2. After this achievement, music director Pritam Chakraborty offered her two songs. ‘Khwab Dekhe’ (sexy lady) from the movie ‘Race’ in the year 2008. The second offer was ‘Zara Zara Touch Me’ from the same movie. The Second Son became a blockbuster hit. She also hosted as a judge in the Bengali Sa re ga ma pa Little Champs for two years. In the year 2014, she won the Filmfare Award for the song ‘Sawaar Loon’ From the movie ‘Lootera’. After two years in 2016 Pondy National Filmfare Awards For the song ‘Moh Moh Ke Dhaage’ from the movie  Dum Laga Ke Haisha.Along with this blockbuster performance as a singer, she also performs in the song ‘Cham Cham in the movie Baaghi in the year 2016. Tiger Shroff was in the lead role in the movie.

She has also released many blockbuster singles of her own. As like  Tamanna in 2018, Sai Mora Saiyaan in 2018, O Re Naseeba in 2019, Pani Pani Re in 2019, Dugga Elo Re in 2019, Dil ka  Fitoor in 2020. She also appeared in the Bengali television show in the lead role of Indubala, the show named Alokito Ek Indu. She also made her acting debut in  Krishnakanter Will, Raja Sen directed the movie was a Comedy family drama. In this movie, she played the role of a Bhromor. She made her movie debut in the ‘Lakshmi’.Indian Hindi language biographical social  Problem film directed by Nagesh Kukunoor.

She married Maik Richter, a Restaurant businessman in Switzerland in the year 2017.
