He was born on 1st October in 1955 in Amreli Gujarat. His father, Shantilal Shanghvi and his mother’s name is Kumud Shanghvi. He belongs to the Jain family.
He spent his early childhood in Kolkata due to his father’s drug-selling business. He completed his school education at J.J. Ajmera High School, which is in Bhawanipur Kolkata.
He completed his graduation in commerce from the University of Kolkata.
Career
He started his career by helping his father in the drug business in Kolkata.
After continuing it for some time in the YearYear of 1982, he founded Sun Pharmaceutical by investing only Rs 10,000/-.
He started it with his partner named Pradeep Ghosh.
After a few years of hard work, they started to export their products outside of the country.
In the YearYear 1997 for expansion of his company, he acquired an American company Caraco Pharma and Israel’s Taro Pharma, in 2007.
