Who is Bruno Mars?

He is an American singer-songwriter dancer and record producer. He is known for his wide range of musical styles such as Pop, Contemporary R&B, Hip hop music and so many. He has sold over 130 million records worldwide, which also makes him one of the best selling artists of all time. He becomes the first artist to receive five diamond certified songs in the United States. He has received many awards and nominations including eleven Grammy Awards, three BRIT Awards, nine American Music Awards, ten Soul Train Music Awards along with three Guinness World Records. American news magazine Times Magazine listed his name in 100 most influential people in the world of 2011. American Business Magazine Forbes listed his name 30 under 30′ in 2013.

Early life

He was born on 8th October 1985 in Honolulu, the capital and the largest city of Hawaii in the United States. His father’s name is Peter Hernandez &  mother Bernadette San Pedro Bayot was both a singer and a dancer. He attended President Theodore Roosevelt High School in Honolulu. When her sister played his demo for Mike Lynn who was head of Artists and repertoire at American record label company Aftermath Entertainment, Mike Lynn told him to come to Los Angeles. In 2003 after becoming graduate from high school he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his music career. 

Career

On 11th May 2010, he released his debut extended play (EP) “It’s Better If You Don’t Understand” reached at number 99 on Billboard 200.” Just the Way You Are” the lead single from his debut studio album Doo-Wops & Hooligans was released on 20th July 2010. It’s sold over 15.5 million copies worldwide. 

At the 2011 Grammy Awards, he won his first Grammy Awards for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Just the Way You Are”. Along with this, he has also won six nominations of Grammy Awards for Best Rap Song & Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and record of the year for “Nothin’ on You”. Next year in 2012 he won his first American Music Awards for Male Artist – Pop/Rock &  Brit Award for International Male Solo Artist and the Echo Award for Best International Male.

His second studio album “Unorthodox Jukebox” was released on 11th December 2012. In Australia, Canada, and the UK it becomes the third fastest-selling album by a solo artist of 2012. “Locked Out of Heaven” lead single of the album was released on 1st October 2012.The song reached at top 10 in various countries. 

He organised a concert tour “The Moonshine Jungle Tour” in 2013-14. The approximate earning from the Tour was $156.4 million (Rs 11,60.75 Cr). He has disclosed this on The Super Bowl XLVIII halftime show on 2nd February 2014. It was the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show at that time with 115.3 million viewers.

At the 2016 Grammy Awards Ronson and Mars’ featured single, “Uptown Funk” and won a Grammy award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance & record of the year. The song also took the number one position on the billboard hot hundred by replacing the song “Don’t” & “Thinking Out Loud” song by English singer Ed Sheeran. Next year in the 2017 Grammy award he performs a track from his third Studio album “25” titled “All I Ask”.For this performance, he won a Grammy award for Album of the Year. That same year Guinness Book of World Records published that he is “First Male Artist to achieve three 10-million-selling-singles”.In 2017 August American actress and singer Zendaya appeared in the music video for the song “Versace on the Floor”  a song by him. American actress and singer Selena Gomez has given him the credit for inspiration in singing.

He announced his third concert tour The 24K Magic World Tour in 2017-18 which earns more than $ 300 million (Rs 22,26.60 Cr) worldwide. “Please Me” released this single along with American rapper Cardi B. Song reached Number three on the Billboard Hot 100. On 26th February 2021, He along with American rapper Anderson Paak announced that they have recorded an album together under the band name Silk Sonic. The title of the album was announced as An Evening with Silk Sonic.
