Introduction

Brie Larson is an American actress and filmmaker from California.

She is famous for her supporting work in comedies when a teenager, she has since expanded to leading roles in independent dramas and film franchises, receiving such accolades as an Academy Award and a Golden Globe.

Early Life

She was born on the 1st October 1989, in Sacramento, California to her parents, Heather and Sylvain Desaulniers.

At the age of six years old, she expressed the desire to become an actor.  

Career

Larson started her acting career at the age of eight years with the talk show ‘The Tonight Show with  Jay Leno.

She had a small part, next year, in the Amber Heard-starring drama “Remember the Daze”, and she launched arts and literature magazine, Bunnies and Traps, for which she wrote her own opinion columns.

In 2013 and 2014, she appeared in supporting roles in movies such as ‘The Spectacular Now,’ ‘Don Jon,’ and ‘The Gambler.’ In 2015, she was part of the comedy movie ‘Digging for Fire.’

The movie allowed her to improvise her role. Later on, in the same year, she acted in the comedy movie ‘Trainwreck,’ which featured her as the sister of the lead character, portrayed by Amy Schumer.

She also directed her first feature film, ‘Unicorn Store in 2017.’ It was a comedy movie that had her in the lead role. The movie was not a huge success. 

Later in 2017, she played the character, Jeannette Walls, in The Glass Castle, an adaptation of Walls’ memoir, which reunited her with Destin Daniel Cretton. It tells the story of a young woman’s relationship with her nonconformist parents played by Woody Harrelson and Naomi Watts.

As of this year, she starred in ‘Captain Marvel’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’, alongside stars such as Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, and many more Hollywood stars.

After a year-long absence from the screen, she performed as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero film “Captain Marvel” (2019), which marked Marvel Studios’ first female-led film.

She was sceptical about taking on such a high-profile role, but later accepted the part after viewing it as a platform to empower young women and found a connection with the character’s flaws and humanity.
