She is an American professional golfer in the U.S who plays in the LPGA Tour.  She has won twelve tournaments, including ten LPGA Tour events. She has been as high as number two in the Women’s World Golf Rankings. She was the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open champion. At the end of the 2019 season, she was 10th on the all-time LPGA career money list with earnings of $ 12,131,822 (Rs 90.00 Cr).

Early Life

Paula was born on 5th August 1986 in Mountain View, California, and has grown up in Pleasanton. The only child of her father Paul  Creamer who is an airline pilot and mother Karen Creamer is a homemaker.

As a child, she was an active participant in acrobatic dancing and gymnastics and since her childhood, she always dreamed of being a cheerleader. By the time she was ten years old, she had started playing golf. 

The family home was in Castlewood Country Club, where she learned to play. It immediately became famous that the young girl had talent. When she was eleven years old, she was victorious in eighteen successive junior matches.

Her  family moved to Florida in 2000. The young golfer sharpened  her golf at the David Leadbetter Golf Academy.

During her education, she continued to compete in amateur and junior tournaments as a young teenager. when she was the female U.S. representative at the R.A Junior Open in Royal Musselburgh, England. She finished sixth in the combined finals totals.

By age of twelve, she had won thirteen junior events in a row & by thirteen, she had already become the top-ranked female junior golfer in the state, winning nineteen national tournaments, including eleven American Junior Golf Association events. 

She was also named Player of the Year by AJGA in 2003. She has even represented the U.S in the Curtis Cup. After that, she became the youngest winner of a multi-round event in LPGA history at the age of eighteen years, nine months, and seventeen days.

Career

She became professional in 2004, where she won the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament by five strokes and qualified for the membership on the Tour for the 2005 season. The young and fresh golfer became everyone’s choice  by her talent from the very first year. She handed her first LPGA victory in the same year at Sybase Classic in New Rochelle, New York.

She has also become eligible with various awards and achievements such as Player of the year by American Junior Golf Association (2003), Amateur of the year by Golf Digest (2004), LPGA Rookie of the year (2005) and many more. 

 She has claimed a total of twelve wins which includes ten LPGA tours and two LPGA of Japan Tour and is very determined to win more in future.

In 2007, she won two LPGA Tour titles. On 17th February, she won her third career LPGA title at the SBS Open at Turtle Bay. 

In November, she won The Mitchell Company Tournament of Champions, defeating Birdie Kim by eight strokes. She also played in her second Solheim Cup, leading both sides in points earned. She remained unbeaten in five matches as the U.S. team retained the cup.

For the season, she posted 13 top-10 finishes and earned over $1.3 million (Rs 9.64 Cr) third on the money list.

In the 2008 season, she won a career-high four LPGA events and made more than $1.8 million (Rs 13.35 Cr) which was the highest amount she has earned in a season. On 27th April, she came up short in a bid for her second win of the year, losing in a sudden-death playoff to Sörenstam at the Stanford International Pro-Am. The next week, she bounced back at the SemGroup Championship by defeating Juli Inkster in a playoff. 

In the U.S. In The Women’s Open, she entered the final round one shot off the lead and was in a good position to win her first major championship victory. However, a five-over-par 78 on the last day dropped her into a tie for sixth.

 She withdrew from the first event of the 2010 season with a left thumb injury, which she had first  continued in June 2009 at the Wegmans LPGA tournament. She was forced into an extended absence from golf, and her thumb was still healing by the time she returned in June.

She did not win a tournament during the 2011 season, though she did have seven top-five finishes and 10 top-10 finishes. Her highest finishes of the year were a pair of ties for second, at the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup and CME Group Titleholders. 

She was again selected to the U.S. Solheim Cup team in 2011. 

At the 2012 Kingsmill Championship, she finished the tournament tied with Jiyai Shin, and the two entered a playoff. They played eight playoff holes, each pairing every time. 

She earned over $ 800,000 (Rs 5.93 Cr) and had seven top-10 finishes in the 2012 season, but was again unable to win any events.

During the 2013 season, she made over $ 800,000 (Rs 5.93 Cr) and finished in the top-10 six times. She also appeared in the 2013 Solheim Cup but lost three of her four matches as the U.S. team lost 18–10.

The business magazine “Forbes” estimated her 2013 endorsement income to be $ 4.5 million (Rs 33.38 Cr) and her total income placed her among that highest-earning female athlete of that year. She started her 2014 with two T-3 finishes in her first two tournaments, the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open and the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic. On 2nd March 2014, she achieved her first LPGA tournament since the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open.

After a stretch of four straight missed cuts, she fell outside the top 40 in the world rankings by September 2015; she was dealing with the effects of swing and equipment changes. Due to not qualifying on points for the 2015 Solheim Cup team, she was selected for her sixth appearance in the event as a captain’s pick. 

As part of the U.S. for the 2015 season, her earnings were under $ 400,000 (Rs 2.96 Cr) 47th on tour.

 She changed swing instructors before the start of the 2016 season. Having worked with David Whelan for fifteen years, she began receiving instruction from Gary Gilchrist after Whelan left his position at IMG Academy.

At one point in the 2017 season, she missed the cut four times in five tournaments, including the U.S. Women’s Open. She was chosen as an alternate after the withdrawal of Jessica Korda due to an injury. She won three of her four matches as the U.S. team retained the Cup.

In 2018, she fell outside the top 100 in earnings, making about $ 71,000 (Rs  52.67 Cr) her highest finish of the season was 12th place at the Buick LPGA Shanghai, the last event in which she played. The following season, she improved to 91st on the money list with approximately $ 145,000 (Rs 1.07 Cr) in earnings.

She graduated from the IMG Pendleton School the week after her first LPGA victory in 2005. 

Since 2005 she has done charitable work for The First Tee, an organization that benefits junior golfers. She hosts the Paula 4 Kids Celebrity Event, an annual outing that raises money for The First Tee of Sarasota/Manatee. 

She has appeared at youth golf clinics and donated scholarships to IMG Academy. She also has a foundation that aids junior golfers and military families.

On 16th December, 2013, she announced her engagement to Derek Heath. The couple  married . On 11th March 2014. In 2018, she told Golfweek that she and Heath were “no longer together.
