She was born on 15th November 1997 in New York City, the largest city in the United States. Her parents have their own clothing boutique also. She started playing tennis at the age of seven years old at a club named Playa de Aro. At the age of fourteen years old she moved to Valencia, Spain to spend more time playing tennis.
At the junior level, she managed to reach the 8th position in the rankings and won three singles tournaments and once in doubles. She started her professional journey on the adult WTA tour in 2012. Sant Jordi was the first tournament where the Spaniard won at the ITF level. After that, she managed to win 7 more ITF tournaments.
In March 2015, on the WTA Tour in the third round, she lost to Karolína Plíšková.

In her quarterfinals match against the eventual silver medalist, Czech Markéta Vondroušová, she lost her first set before retiring from her match due to heat stroke caused by the hot, humid conditions in Tokyo – ultimately resulting in her having a long medical timeout and required to leave the court via wheelchair. In May 2021 Badosa reached her first WTA 1000 semifinal at the Madrid Open, making her the first Spanish woman to reach the semifinals in the tournament history. She defeated Belinda Bencic. & faced top seed and Ashleigh Barty in the semifinal, where Barty got her revenge. On 23rd August 2021, following her second WTA 1000 quarterfinal at the Cincinnati Open where she defeated Petra Martic, third seed Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina, & reached a career-high in singles of world No. 26.
