Melissa Peterman is an American actress and comedian who was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in July 1971. She graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She acted in a production of Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding and wrote and performed at an improvisational comedy theatre. Her movie debut came in the 1996 movie Fargo. She did not appear on screen again till 2000.
From 2001 to 2007 she performed in the television series Reba as Barbra Jean Booker Hart. After that, she has been featured in the TV show Surviving Suburbia, Rita Rocks, Working Class, and Pretty the Series. In 2012 she was cast as Bonnie Wheeler in the ABC Family sitcom Baby Daddy. Next year she became the host of the ABC game show Bet On Your Baby and ABC Family’s Dancing Fools. Melissa has also appeared in the movies How High and Here Comes the Boom.

Early Life
She was born in Edina, Minnesota on the 1st July 1971 as Melissa Margaret Peterman. Not so much is available on the internet about her parents, early life, and family background. But we know she graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato, with a major in Theatre and started her acting career as one of the casts in Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding. After appearing in over six hundred performances, she wrote and performed at Brave New Workshop which boasts alumni in the persons of Al Franken, Pat Proft, Cedric Yarbrough, Louie Anderson, and Mo Collins. She then performed at the Big Stink Comedy Festival in Austin, Texas, as well as at the Chicago Improv Festival during her early days.
In 1996, Peterman made her movie debut in the Coen brothers’ award-winning black comedy movie Fargo. Between 2001 and 2006, she played Barbra Jean Booker-Hart in the sitcom Reba along with TV veteran Christopher Rich and country music icon. At that point in time, she also performed in the movie Recipe for Disaster with John Larroquette and Lesley Ann Warren. She then performed in an unreleased Independent film titled Cook-off and made appearances in a 2001 stoner film How High which started Redman. She then started hosting a comedy show for women at the Egyptian Theatre titled 15 Minutes of Fem and also appeared on Running with Scissors – a comedy show that aired on U.S cable network, Oxygen.
