Early Life

He was born on 12th April 1996 in Lazio, the capital and largest city of Italy. His father’s name is Luca Berrettini & mother’s name is Claudia Bigo. He has a younger brother, Jacopo, who is also a tennis player by profession.

Career

At the 2017 Italian Open, he was defeated by Italian professional Fabio Fognini in the first round.

At the 2019 Hungarian Open, he won his second ATP singles title, defeating Serbian professional Filip Krajinović in the final. At the Italian Open, he upset German tennis player Alexander Zverev in the round of 32 for his first win against a top-5 player. Swiss professional tennis player Roger Federer played in the Björn Borg group at the 2019 ATP Finals wherein in the round-robin, he lost his opening match to Dominic Thiem in straight sets but beat against him.

He played a lead-up tournament in 2019 Cincinnati before competing in the US Open. There, despite his lack of preparation, he reached his first Major quarterfinal after defeating Russian Andrey Rublev in the fourth round. He then beat French professional Gaël Monfils in a fifth set tiebreak to become the first Italian man to reach the US Open semifinals since 1977. His run ended against eventual champion Rafael Nadal in straight sets.

He won the 2020 Ultimate Tennis Showdown. He lost in the third round to American Reilly Opelka in Cincinnati. At the 2021 ATP Cup against Russia, where he lost to Daniil Medvedev in two sets. at the Madrid Open, he lost to Alexander Zverev. At the French Open In the quarterfinal, he then lost in 4 sets against World No. 1 Novak Djokovic.
