He was born on 28th February 1999 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
In September 2012, at the age of thirteen years old, he signed a 5-year contract with Real Madrid. He also grew up enjoying the play of American basketball player LeBron James.
Career
Doncic started playing at the 2014 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship’s second level B tournament, with Slovenia’s Under-16 junior national team.
In 2016, he announced that he would represent the senior men’s Slovenian national team for the rest of his career.
He made NBA history in a 142–94 win over the Golden State Warriors on 20th November when he posted 35 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists. He became the youngest player to have 35-point triple-doubles in succession, breaking Oscar Robertson’s record, and only the fourth player to record it since the 1983–84 season, join along with Michael Jordan, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook.
During the tournament, he was selected to the FIBA All-Star Five team along with Kevin Durant, and Rudy Gobert at Games.
On 7th May 2021, he reached 5,000 points for his career. At the age of twenty-two years old, Dončić became the fourth-youngest player to achieve the feat, trailing only LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Carmelo Anthony.
