Leonardo DiCaprio is an American actor, film producer and philanthropist who is known for his work in biopics and period films, Leo has received various prestigious awards throughout his career, including an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and three Golden Globe Awards.

Early Life

Leo was born on 11th November 1974, in Los Angeles, California. He is the only child of Irmelin (née Indenbirken), a legal secretary, and his father George DiCaprio, an underground comix writer, publisher, and distributor of comic books. 

His parents met while attending college and moved to Los Angeles after he graduated. DiCaprio was raised in Catholic families.

He studied at Seeds Elementary School and later on shifted to  John Marshall High School after attending the Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies for four years. 


He got his start in Hollywood in a smattering of commercials and television roles as a child. A breakthrough happened when the fourteen-year-old Leo landed a Mattel commercial for the company’s Matchbox cars. 

He appeared in 12 episodes of a series called Parenthood and then 23 episodes of Growing Pains.

Rise to Success

In 1991 Leo made his film debut in Critters 3. His next movie “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?” earned him an Academy Award nomination for best-supporting actor.

His personal life is the widespread media attention. He rarely opens up in interviews and is explained about his private life. But he has been the subject of several articles detailing his involvement with women aged 25 or younger.

In 1999, he met Brazilian model Gisele Bündchen, whom he dated till 2005. He then was in a relationship with Argentine-American model and actress Camila Morrone from 2017 till the present.
