Early Life

John Karl Fetterman was born on 15th August 1969 & he grew up in a part of York, PA. Both his parents are strict conservative Republicans. John studied at Albright College & has earned an MBA from the University of Connecticut, graduating in 1993.In 2020 he started receiving national attention thanks to his campaign for PA’s open Senate seat. His fame started growing in 2022 as he began a skilful campaign against his opponent, television personality Dr Oz.

Public Service

While he was a student at UConn, HIS best friend died in a car accident. John would later explain that this incident had a deep impact on him and set him on a path towards public service. After his friends’ death, at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America where he was soon associated with an 8-year-old boy whose father had recently died of AIDS and whose mother would soon also die from AIDS.

In 2004, he became Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania.

In 2004, he moved to Braddock where in 2006 he became the city’s part-time mayor and full-time director of the youth program. He became the full-time mayor in 2006 serving till 2019 when he became Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania.

Senate Campaign

Fetterman first ran for Senate unsuccessfully in 2016 & in 2018 he was elected Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania. In 2021 he announced another campaign for the Senate. 

Fetterman has described himself as a supporter of Medicare & saying that healthcare is a “fundamental human need and right”. His website states that “Healthcare is a fundamental human right,” and that he would “support whatever path” is necessary to expand healthcare accessibility including the expansion of Obamacare. In debate, he confirmed he would vote for Medicare for All
