Introduction

Jerome Powell is an American politician who was born in Washington, D.C. in February 1953. He is a Republican who graduated from Princeton University and received his JD from Georgetown University. He served as the Under Secretary of the Treasure for Domestic Finance under President George H.W. Bush from 1992 to 1993. After that, he was a partner at the private equity fund, From 1997 to 2005. The Carlyle Group. He then founded his private investment firm which he called Severn Capital Partners. In 2008 he became a managing partner at a private equity/venture capital firm called Global Environment Firm.

Early Life

One of six children of his parents Patricia (née Hayden and Jerome Powell, was born on 4th February 1953. At the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America and then at Georgetown University, his maternal grandpa, James J. Hayden, served as Dean. The five people he shares his life with include his sister Susan, brother Matthew, sister Tia, and sister Libby.

In 1975, he completed his graduation from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in political science. At Georgetown University Law Center in 1979, he also received a Juris Doctor degree and served as the journal’s editor-in-chief.

Career

In 2012, he was selected for The Federal Reserve Board of Governors. In 1984, he started his career in investment banking. He worked at the Bipartisan Policy Center as a visiting scholar from 2010 to 2012. He became a Member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in 2012. He then founded his private investment firm which he called Severn Capital Partners.He served as the Under Secretary of the Treasure for Domestic Finance under President George H.W. Bush from 1992 to 1993.
