She was born on 28th December  1970, in Paterson, New Jersey, U.S.She was raised in an Italian-Irish family. Her father was a police officer and her mother was a housewife.

She completed summa cum laude from Sacred Heart University. She was formerly married to businessman Frank Catania who she met when she was 19 and was married for ten years. They have two kids as a result of their relationship, daughter Gabrielle who was born in 1995 and son Frankie born in 1998.
