She is a Mexican model and has crowned Miss Universe 2020. After winning the title Andrea Meza becomes the third  Mexican women to be crowned as Miss Universe. Early Life

She was born on 13th August 1994 in The city of Chihuahua which is the state capital of the Mexican state of  Chihuahua. The child of  Alma Carmona and Santiago Meza has Chinese -Mexican ancestry. The eldest of three sisters she enrolled in The Autonomous University of Chihuahua. There she studied Software engineering. She becomes a graduate in 2017 & began working in Mexico as a software engineer in addition to her career as a model.

Career

She started her career in 2016, where she represented Chihuahua at Miss World Mexico 2016. She advanced to the top sixteen & finally the top five. She was one of the two contestants awarded a crown, being crowned as  Miss World Mexico 2016. 

After that in Miss World 2017, she won group sixteen of the Head-to-Head Challenge, which gave her direct entry into the top forty.  During the finals of the competition, she advanced from the top forty into the top fifteen & finally top five. After reaching the top five she placed as the first runner-up behind Indian model Manushi Chhillar.

In 2020 she was crowned Mexicana Universal Chihuahua 2020, allowing her to represent Chihuahua at  Mexicana Universal 2020. The final was held on 29th November 2020 in Santiago de Queretaro, are the capital and largest city of the state of Queretaro located in central Mexico.

As Mexicana Universal, she represented Mexico at Miss Universe 2020. The final of the competition was held on 16th May 2021 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood Florida. She advanced from the initial pool of 74 contestants to the top 21 & finally top five where she was crowned the winner by outgoing titleholder South African model Zozibini Tunzi. After her win, she became the third Mexican woman to win the crown, following Lupita Jones & Ximena Navarrete. She becomes the 69th Miss Universe.

Miss Brazil, Julia Gama, was the runner-up while Miss Peru, Janick Maceta Del Castillo, become in the third position, among 73 other women representing different countries.

According to People’s Magazine, the show started with the swimsuit segment. The next part was the evening gown round & interview. Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi also performed with the top 5 contestants in the show.

Due to The COVID-19 pandemic, the competition was postponed from late 2020 to May 2021. This was the third time in the history of the competition in which the event was held in the next calendar year. On 7th May American rapper and singer, Pitbull was announced as the competition’s guest performer but seven days later, Pitbull dropped out and was replaced by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi.

Mexican people celebrate her win by congratulating her on social media by saying her a true queen. She is also the tourism Ambassador at Ah Chihuahua & the owner of the clothing brand Andrea Meza activewear.
