Early Life
He was born on 2nd March 1998 in ʻEwa Beach, Hawaii, to Galu and Diane Tagovailoa, as the oldest of four children in a Samoan family.
He is a Christian & is predominantly right-handed, his father trained him to throw the ball with his left hand as a child.
Career
In January 2017, he started playing college football at the University of Alabama. In the same year, he was a true freshman and was the backup to sophomore quarterback Jalen Hurts throughout the 2017 season.
In September Alabama won the game 41-10 and he finished 6-of-9 for 64 yards. In 2017 along with that he also won the CFP National Champion (2017).
In 2018, he made his first college career which he started at the season’s opening game, against Louisville, in Orlando, Florida. He finished 12-of-16, with 227 passing yards and two touchdowns. After he finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting. After that, he won the Walter Camp Award and Maxwell Award for 2018.
In 2019, he started his junior season at the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game with a victory against Duke in Atlanta. His junior year was marred with injuries and in January 2020, he announced that he would forgo his senior year and enter the 2020 NFL Draft.
He was selected 5th overall by the Miami Dolphins in the Round 1 of the 2020 NFL Draft. On 11th May 2020, he signed his four-year rookie contract, for $30 million (Rs 2,24.85 Cr).
Thereafter he made his debut appearance in a Week 6 game against the New York Jets.
