He is a South Korean rapper. Under Big Hit Music, Suga who’s real name is Min Yoon-gi started his career in the South Korean boy band BTS in 2013. The South Korea Music Copyright Association has given him the credit for over a hundred songs as a songwriter and producer including the single “wine” of the Mini album “walkin” which rank at number two on the “Gaon Music Chart”. It has also won the best Soul/R&B track of the year at the South Korean annual Music Award Melon Music Award. He is one of the millionaire rappers in the BTS boy band nowadays.

Early life

He was born on 9th March 1993 in Daegu which is a city in South Korea. The younger of two children in his family he has attended three different schools in his primary education Taejeon Elementary School, Gwaneum Middle School & Apgujeong High School. After hearing the South Korean Hip Hop group “Epik High” he decided to become a rapper. In 2019  he has taken his admission to the virtual University of South Korea name Hanyang Cyber University for study in master of Business Administration in advertising and media.

Career

He has taken his training under the South Korean entertainment company Big Hit Entertainment for three years. After that, he started his career as a member of the South Korean boy band BTS in 2013 on South Korean television Music channel Mnet. He has debuted with the track “No More Dream” from their single album “2 Cool 4 Skool.” In 2018 he has received the award the fifth-class Hwagwan The Order of Cultural Merit by the South Korean president.

BTS is also known as Bangtan Boys is a seventh member boy band in South Korea. Including him, there are other six number as follows Jin, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V &  Jungkook.

On 15th August 2016, he released a self-titled mixtape on the Swedish online audio distribution platform “SoundCloud”. 

For South Korean singer-rapper Heize he co-wrote and produced the digital single, “We Don’t Talk Together”.On 6th May 2020 South Korean singer IU released the digital single “Eight” which was produced by him. The Track ranks at number one on both the Gaon Digital Chart and Billboard World Digital Songs chart.

In January 2018 he has promoted to a full member of the Korea Music Copyright Association. According to a survey of  Analytics and advisory company Gallup Korea, he was ranked the 13th most preferred idol of the year for 2017.

In 2020,  he released “Interlude: Shadow” as part of the album rollout for the south Korean Studio album “Map of the Soul: 7”.

In 2018 he purchased a luxury apartment in Hannam-dong Seoul for $ 3 million (Rs 21.82 Cr).

Social Responsibility

On his 26th birthday in 2019, he has donated  $ 88,000 (Rs 64.03 Cr) to the Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation. On 27th  February 2020, he has donated  $ 88,000 (Rs 64.03 Cr) to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association to help prevent and relief efforts in his hometown of Daegu. On 9th March 2021, he again donated  $ 88,000 (Rs 64.03 Cr) to Daegu’s Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital, to support childhood cancer patients who cannot access treatment due to financial difficulties.
