Early Life
Rahm was born on November 10th November 1994 in Barrika, Basque Country, Spain. He was raised by a Basque father and a mother with roots in Madrid.
After studying in secondary school in Spain, he won a golf scholarship to Arizona State University.
Career
He started his golf career as an amateur, winning the Ben Hogan Award in 2015 and 2016. In 2015, he entered the Phoenix Open as an amateur during his junior year of college and finished in fifth place. Although he lost his number-one spot after 25 weeks, he then regained it and held it for a record 60 consecutive weeks.
During his time as the number-one ranked amateur golfer, he made it to the quarterfinals of the US Amateur, eventually losing to Derek Bard. That same year, he also won the Mark H. After a number of achievements at the college level, including an NCAA regional championship and a Pac-12 Conference championship, after that he decided to go professional after the 2016 US Open.
His first professional competition was in the Quicken Loans National, eventually finishing tied for third place. But his decision to go pro meant that he forfeited his exemption into the Open Championship, his third-place finish at the Quicken Loans National was enough to put him back into the Open.
In 2017, his career advanced significantly with a number of important wins. It was his first PGA Tour title, and it saw him rise up to 46th in the Official World Golf Ranking. He also started playing in his first World Golf Championship events, the first of which was the WGC-Mexico Championship.
He started 2018 by finishing runner-up eight strokes behind Dustin Johnson at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Kapalua, Hawaii.
That year, he also competed in the Wells Fargo Championship, the Dead & DeLuca Invitational, the Open de France, the Dubai Duty-Free Irish Open, the FedEx Cup Playoff, and the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
In 2018, he posted more positive results, winning the CareerBuilder Challenge, the Open de Espana, and the Hero World Challenge. The wins coming in 2019. That year, he won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, partnering with Ryan Palmer.
