Early Life
He was born on 14th October 1980 in Clifton, a village and civil parish in the English county of Bedfordshire. His mother Linda Whishaw works in cosmetics, and Jose Whishaw his father works in sports with young people.
He was a member of the Bancroft Players Youth Theatre, at Hitchin’s Queen Mother Theatre. He studied at Henlow Middle School and then Samuel Whitbread Community College in Clifton. He becomes graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2003.
Career
As the lead role in British theatre director Trevor Nunn’s 2004 production of Hamlet, he received highly favourable reviews, was nominated for the Olivier Award for Best Actor, and received third prize at the Ian Charleson Awards.
In Perfume, a period psychological thriller film, he performed Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, a perfume maker whose craft turns deadly. The movie was released in Germany in September 2006 and America in December 2006. In the same year, he also worked on Polish filmmaker Paweł Pawlikowski’s abandoned The Restraint of Beasts. He appeared as one of the Bob Dylan reincarnations in I’m Not There in 2007.
In 2012 he appeared as Richard II in the television film Richard II, a part of the BBC Two series of British television film “The Hollow Crown”. In 2015, he co-starred in surreal black comedy dystopian film “The Lobster”, a romantic science-fiction drama from Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos; appeared in British historical drama film “Suffragette”, a story of the early feminist movement written by Welsh screenwriter Abi Morgan and also starring Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter, Meryl Streep and his The Hour co-star, Romola Garai, reprised his role of Q in Spectre, the 24th Bond film, and played author Herman Melville in Ron Howard’s In the Heart of the Sea.
He is set to reprise his role of Q in “No Time to Die”, the 25th James Bond film, set to be released worldwide on 30 September 2021 alongside Daniel Craig, Lea Seydoux, and Naomie Harris. The other star cast of the movie is Rami Malek played the character of Lyutsifer Safina along with American actor Jeffrey Wright.
