She is an American Professional golfer who has won two major championships & plays on “The Ladies Professional Golf Association” (LPGA). She has ranked number one in the “Women’s World Golf Rankings” in 2013 for four weeks.
Early Life
She was born on 16th February 1985 in Toledo which is a county seat of Lucas, Ohio & is the Major mid-western port city of the United States. Her father’s name is Dale Lewis & mother Carol Lewis. She becomes graduate in 2003 from The Woodlands High School which is in Texas. After that, she graduated from Arkansas in 2008 with a Bachelor degree in Finance & Accounting.
Career
In 2006 she won the “Women’s Western Amateur”. In 2007 she won the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship and was selected for Monthly Golf magazine published by Discovery “Golf Digest” Amateur of the Year.
She qualified for the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open in North Carolina, where she shot 78-73 in the tournament and missed the cut by three strokes to finish tied for 93rd. In the 2008 season, she again won the SEC Tournament and collected for the SEC Golfer of the Year and SEC Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Her name also listed in the monthly Sports magazine “ESPN The Magazine”.
In 2008 in the Curtis Cup, she becomes the first player ever to go 5–0 in a single Curtis Cup. As an amateur, it was her last tournament.
After that, she becomes professional before the sectional qualifying of “2008 U.S. Women’s Open”. She has completed seven tournaments on the LPGA tour of 2008 & she earned ever $ 247,000 (Rs 1.83 Cr) with two top-10 finishes.
Her first official tournament win comes from the 2011 Kraft Nabisco Championship. In the same year, she debuts for the biennial golf tournament for professional women golfers “The Solheim Cup” & qualifying second for the U.S. team behind American Professional golfer Cristie Kerr.
Winning four tournaments in 2012 she becomes the first American player to win The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) player of the year. Next year winning three tournaments she replaced Taiwanese Professional golfer Yani Tseng as the top-ranked women golfer in the world. After that, she won her second major title at the 2013 “Ricoh Women’s British Open” at St Andrews, Scotland.
In 2014 she won the Volunteers of America Classic on 4th May which was her ninth official win on tour. One month later she won the “Walmart NW Arkansas Championship” on 29th June 2014. She also won her second LPGA player of the year.
In a sudden-death playoff in April 2015 to American Professional golfer Brittany Lincicome at One of the five major Championship of professional women’s golf ANA Inspiration. The same year in June she was represented by Sterling Sports Management. She becomes the Top female earner of the 2015 Golf Digest 50 All-Encompassing Money List, ranking at number 41.
She won the Portland Classic on 3rd September 2017. After the tournament, she donated her earnings of amount $ 390,000 (Rs 2.90 Cr) to the victims of Hurricane Harvey, a devastating Category 4 hurricane that occurs in Texas and Louisiana in August 2017.
She won her first title in almost three years with a playoff victory in 2020 in the Ladies Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club in East Lothian, Scotland.
