He was born on 01st June 1985 in Chennai. His father Krishna Kumar & mother’s name is Padmini Krishnakumar is a housewife. He has a younger brother named Vinesh. He has completed his higher secondary school education from the Don Bosco School which is in Chennai.
Career
He made his first-class debut in the year 2002 against Baroda. He also played U-19 for the South Zone. Next year session in 2003-04 he was also selected for the Ranji Trophy. He scored 438 runs & with two centuries & 20 catches.
He played 2008 Indian Premier League as a wicketkeeper for the Delhi Daredevils. His highest score was unbeaten 56 and make his team a five-wicket win. He was bought by Kings Xi Punjab in 2011 of $ 900,000 (Rs 6.58 Cr). It makes him the second most expensive player in his team.
He made his test debut for Team India against Australia in the year 2004. He also played the ICC Champions Trophy against Kenya taking three catches before being replaced on the ODI team by M.S.Dohni.
He joined One Day International team India in the month of April 2006 in the final ODI against England. His fifteen-year long career includes 94 ODI’s & 32 Twenty20. He was then selected for the tournament in Sri Lanka in the 2007 Cricket World Cup.
He also played for the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy after a wonderful performance in the Domestic as well as in the IPL. He scored back to back centuries in the two games & also secured his place in the tournament.
In the month of April 2019, he was named to India’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. The same year in the month of July in a match against Sri Lanka, he played his 150th International Match for the team India.

He married to the Indian Squash player Dipika Pallikal after divorce his first wife Nikita Vanjara in the year 2012. He got engaged Dipika next year in the month of November. In a traditional Hindu & Christian ceremonies, he got married to her in the month of August 2015.
